Security Guard Training in Massachusetts

Massachusetts does not require you to register for a security guard license. However the private security company that hires unarmed guards should be registered and licensed as a Watch Guard Patrol Agency.  The Department of Public Safety regulates licenses to such companies.

Requirements for Security Officer

To be eligible to work as a security guard in Massachusetts, you should meet the following requirements:

  • You should be at least 18 years old.
  • You should have a high school degree or GED
  • Criminal background check
  • Must be a US citizen or a permanent resident who is allowed to work in US.

In addition to this you will need proper documentation to prove your identity and previous work experience.

Unarmed Guard Training Requirements

There is no required training for unarmed security guards in Massachusetts. However, many security companies may require you to get trained so that you can perform your duties well and be efficient at your job. Some companies may provide training to their employees in their own training facility or get their employees trained based on the needs of the clients.
